Även om det kan verka som någon sorts kommunistisk programvara är CCCP faktiskt bara en samling codecs för att hjälpa nästan vilken video som helst att köra på ditt system.

Den fullständiga titeln är "Combined Community Codec Pack". I själva verket är det mer som en filterpack än en codec-pack, men utvecklarna säger att "filter inte börjar med C och vi ville ha en bra förkortning"! Utvecklarna påpekar också att namnet är en ordlek på ett ryskt namn som translittereras till det latinska alfabetet som "Soyuz Sovietskikh Sotsialisticheskikh Respublik", eller "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics", förkortat som "USSR".

I vilket fall som helst skapades Combined Community Codec Pack för att ersätta filterpackarna som tillhandahålls av andra grupper som helt enkelt ofta inte fungerade korrekt eller bröt kompatibiliteten för andra format. I själva verket är Combined Community Codec Pack en extremt kraftfull codec-pack som spelar upp de flesta populära formaten utan problem och även några mindre populära. Det finns nu knepiga alternativ för att få det att fungera, även om du kan uppleva konflikter eller betydande försämring av reproduktionen av dina filmer om du har andra codec-paket installerade.

Men överlag är Combined Community Codec Pack en imponerande pack som hanterar nästan allt och jag gillar verkligen utvecklarnas attityd och deras ironiska kommunistiska varumärke.
